The first show of their last tour ever, and the setlist has seen another major overhaul. It now starts with their old favourite, The Train Kept A Rollin', performed with a punkish fury. Jimmy tears through an explosive wah-wah workout during the guitar solo, and the rhythm section hammers wild in the background. The band gets a bit lost at times during the new arrangement of Nobody's Fault But Mine, which now drops the usual guitar and vocal intro and sounds very powerful. Black Dog is very massive, and features Robert in a more rough voice, albeit he attacks each verse with raw aggression. In The Evening is preceded by a short and doomy droning intro, eliminating the bow solo completely. Hot Dog appears in the same arrangement as a year before, and is followed by the first performance of All My Love, a tune that stands quite far away from everything the Zeppelin did in the past. During Since I’ve Been Loving You, Plant includes some lyrics from I’m Gonna Crawl, I don’t care if I have to go by plane / I don’t care if I have to go by train. Achilles Last Stand is played at a more relaxed pace than usual, closer to the studio version than the frantic explosions of the past. The medley of White Summer and Black Mountain Side finds Jimmy in a more erratic if not sloppy mood, and Kashmir now sounds more rough in its new arrangement. Page plays a sticky-fingered guitar solo in Stairway To Heaven, which is again the main set closer, but the encores are a real treat here. After a dirty Rock And Roll, a great hybrid of Whole Lotta Love and Heartbreaker can be heard next, with the latter dropped in the middle of the former, making this version an interesting performance.

This is a fast-paced performance, but also one of the weakest from the whole tour for Jimmy. The Train Kept A Rollin' and Nobody's Fault But Mine are usually kept in a powerful state, with the whole band playing in a near perfect synchronization. Black Dog is another thunderous tune, although the ending guitar solo suffers from some nervousness. The more mild-sounding In The Evening features Jones playing on synthesizers that replaced the Mellotron and other various keyboards from previous years, and Page's playing is more smoothly. The Rain Song gives a needed breath from more heavier songs, however it misses its mysterious feel as a standalone track definitely. Hot Dog and All My Love are not better, showing a serious lack of engagement from Jimmy. On the other hand, a solid Trampled Underfoot has a really nice guitar solo, where Page blazes throughout his workouts. This cannot be said about a rather sloppy version of Since I've Been Loving You, where he is out of tune for most of the song. Achilles Last Stand is better, with only Bonham missing a cue as the song begins, White Summer is erratically atmospheric, and Kashmir is played in a usually monumental precision. Stairway To Heaven is yet again mediocre and shares signs of routine. They decide to finish the show with two quick encores, a riotous Rock And Roll  and a violently aggressive Communication Breakdown that is played at lightning speed.

Finally, this is a very good show and the band is spot on. However, Plant is not in the best shape, as his voice is hoarse. The vigorous The Train Kept A Rollin' is followed by a visceral Nobody's Fault But Mine and a bone-crushing version of Black Dog, where Robert barks aggressively through each verse. He addresses the rowdiness of the crowd after as the song ends, “We gonna have a really, our intention is to have a nice time, so all this pushing, don't push. Keep it cool. Please.“ In The Evening marks the improvement, as it sounds light and airy, and The Rain Song features a beautiful delicates passages from Page. All My Love, albeit being still rough in places, is a nice version before as the band hammers through a heavy Trampled Underfoot, where Jimmy shreds through a blistering guitar solo and with groovy licks courtesy of Bonham. Since I've Been Loving You features lots of emotionally charged guitar workouts, and again incorporates a snippet of I'm Gonna Crawl. A devastating Achilles Last Stand finds them all in an excellent form. Page takes a light approach to the solo and tries to make it more relaxed. The undisciplined audience caused a sudden break at the start of White Summer, which segues into a massive Kashmir. He briefly hints at Mary Poppin's Chim Chim Cher-ee prior to Stairway To Heaven, and the encore set now includes a high-speed Rock And Roll and the extended Whole Lotta Love, with the return of a wild Theremin freak-out and John Lee Hooker's Boogie Chillun and Cream's Cat's Squirrel interferences, just like in the good old days.

A truly well-played and dynamic gig in front of a rather dull and restrained crowd. The opening salvo of The Train Kept A Rollin' is heavy, after which a superb Nobody's Fault But Mine explodes, where Jimmy blazes through a fantastic guitar solo. The usually devastating and fresh sounding Black Dog leaves the audience in a blow, after which we can enjoy a really nice, polished version of In The Evening featuring a frenzied guitar workouts. Someone in the crowd can be heard shouting for Moby Dick following The Rain Song, to which Robert responds that it cannot be done anymore. Trampled Underfoot is a brutal assault. Page shreds wildly through a blistering guitar solo, with the rhythm section laying a perfectly synchronized pulsating background, making this performance a stand-out. Since I've Been Loving You is violently emotional, where Jimmy again shines throughout. He also plays with such a dedication during a storming rendition of Achilles Last Stand. He has no hesitation in maintaining this level during an occasionally sticky-fingered White Summer and Black Mountain Side medley before as it segues into a bombastic Kashmir, where Plant belts out each line with power and conviction. Even Stairway To Heaven keeps everyone in great shape, even the guitar solo is really inspirative for the most part. The encores are a bit of a surprise. The fast and heavy Rock And Roll finds Jimmy's guitar cutting out during the second verse, while a frenzy version of Heartbreaker features Plant pushing his voice to the limit.

Not a bad show but there are some lowlights.. It starts with an aggressive The Train Kept A Rollin', after which they launch into Nobody's Fault But Mine, where Bonham forgets some of the breaks, robbing the song of its dynamic tension. Plant's voice is a bit rough during another good version of In The Evening, as he experiences trouble reaching some of the higher notes. This is followed by a beautiful The Rain Song. Robert attempts to calm the rowdy crowd so Bonzo can introduce Hot Dog. A fiery Trampled Underfoot is dedicated to Phil Carson from Atlantic Records, but Bonham mistakenly plays through the break following the guitar solo. A lackluster and kinda disjoined Since I've Been Loving You follows, it misses most of its intensity and dramaturgy. Achilles Last Stand is expected to be better but yet again it sounds that the whole band is either bored or tired, and Jimmy gets a bit lost in the arrangement toward the end of the song. White Summer is more polished, although the playing is still erratic and not so fluent. The typically powerful Kashmir, where Plant delivers another strong performance, is followed by a somewhat routine sounding rendition of Stairway To Heaven that brings the main set to the end. The encores consists of a dirty Rock And Roll, where Bonzo fumbles through the drum outburst at the end, and a very fast Communication Breakdown.

This is another quite low-key and average gig. The Train Kept A Rollin' is a visceral explosion of energy, with Page tearing through the solos at top speed as the band races to keep up with his playing. Nobody's Fault But Mine is also extremely thigh. However, the energy comes down within Black Dog, where Jimmy blazes through a stick-fingered solo. As the song ends, Plant mocks the audience for their passivity, saying off-mike, “Hannover, fucking horrible place!“ The band hammers through another good version In the Evening, obviously enjoying the newly released material. Bonham plays the opening snare pattern of Moby Dick as The Rain Song comes to a close, what provokes Robert to get him to play the solo. All My Love is a surprise, with Jones playing the keyboard solo in at a bit slower tempo than usual, and Trampled Underfoot finds Page shredding wildly during a blistering workouts, even if the rhythm section drops out of the mix momentarily toward the end of the song. Since I've Been Loving You is one of the better versions from this tour, after which they pummel the crows with a lackluster Achilles Last Stand. A somewhat sticky-fingered White Summer leads to another thunderous Kashmir, with Plant sings dominantly. The encores are again a quick Rock And Roll that is followed by Robert signing a bit of Money (That's What I Want) of The Beatles, and Communication Breakdown, preceded with a bluesy, intriguing guitar intro.

Obviously not the best performance, interrupted by unexpected factors and with an incredibly weak playing from Bonzo. However, the concert gets off to a promising start with The Train Kept A Rollin’ and Nobody’s Fault But Mine, where the band hammers heavily throughout. This is also continued with a raucous Black Dog that is followed by In The Evening, where Jimmy tears through an abrasive guitar solo and Jones plays the sad little melody in the bridge but messes up a few notes. As the song comes to a close, Robert tried to calm down the inpatient crowd. Two new compositions from In Through The Out Door album, Hot Dog and All My Love, shares a fair amount of commitment from Bonham especially. Trampled Underfoot is kept in a typical heavy fashion, where Jimmy shreds frantically through a series of blistering guitar licks. The audience grows even more impatient, so they decide to drop Achilles Last Stand out from the set eventually. Instead, Page starts playing White Summer, but just after two minutes, someone throws a firecracker at him, so he stops immediately. Claude Knobs then asks the audience to bring to the stage the perpetrator, so they can have a word with him. After that, the band returns to the stage and launches directly into Kashmir. Within Stairway To Heaven it is evident that Bonham is about to get out of here. Two encores are closing this event. A messy Rock And Roll with Jimmy losing his grip during the solo, and Whole Lotta Love, where he's ready to jam, but Bonham tries to shut him down at every chance to finish the show.

JUNE 27 - MESSEZENTRUM HALLE A, NUREMBERG, GERMANY

This is almost the complete tape of what is widely considered to be one of the worst shows ever played by the band. Things almost fall apart at the end of The Train Kept A Rollin', when Bonham loses track of the beat. The problems continue during Nobody's Fault But Mine, where he misses many cues, and it is clear that he can barely play the drums. Page manages to deliver a sticky-fingered guitar solo, sharing also serious issues with fluent playing. Bonzo is frequently falling behind the rest of the band again during Black Dog. As the song ends, he can be heard saying “no way!“ as Plant introduces In the Evening. Unfortunately, following a long pause, they forced to cancel the show after as Bonham collapsed onstage from a severe exhaustion.

Finally, a solid show, mostly played with guts and dedication. They pummel the crowd with the powerful one-two punch of The Train Kept A Rollin' and Nobody's Fault But Mine. The momentum is interrupted for a little bit, when Bonham and Jones forget the entrance of the guitar solo during the latter, causing Page's playing to suffer slightly from the confusion. The heavy pounding Black Dog completely erases this stumble, followed by a very good version of In The Evening. You can clearly hear that the whole band plays with energy and verve, as if forgetting about the events of two days ago. The Rain Song is typically gorgeous, and Trampled Underfoot is an explosion of uncontrolled energy, where Jimmy shreds through a blistering guitar solo, and with the rhythm section being simply unstoppable. On the contrary, the slow Since I've Been Loving You is full of emotional guitar licks, even if some moments are sounding a bit subdued. They again play like mad during an urgent Achilles Last Stand, and Jimmy's showcase, White Summer, is typically meandering and erratic. Kashmir is bombastic but botched at the same time, early in the song all the members completely loses track of one another, what results of a funny comment from Plant afterwards, “If anybody's bootlegging that, you'll have to scratch that number 'cuz it wasn't completely correct.“ As expected, the encores are fiery and blistering. The hurricane Rock And Roll finds them all in a great condition, and the closing Heartbreaker, which is performed here for the very last time live, features Page performing brief vignettes of nearly every variation that has appeared in the piece over the years. Highly recommended!

This is undoubtedly the best concert from the tour wihtout any moments of apathy or sluggishness. The band plays with renewed fervour as they hammer through the ferocious attack of The Train Kept A Rollin' and Nobody's Fault But Mine. A devastatingly heavy Black Dog has Page in a great shape, with Bonham pummelind his drum kit with incredible force. The band missteps slightly in the middle of In The Evening, quickly getting themselves back on track and making this version a great rendition. Even Hot Dog and All My Love are sounding much confident and interesting. A brutal Trampled Underfoot is next. Plant barks aggressively as Jimmy shreds frantically through the blistering guitar solos. The outstanding Since I've Been Loving You is a definitive highlight. Page's fingers are like razor blades as he tears through an emotionally charged guitar workouts, while Robert belts out each line as if it were his last as the song reaches its dramatic climax. Achilles Last Stand is a thunderous epic, despite some sticky-fingered manoeuvring from Jimmy in the middle of the song. White Summer, as usual during this tour, is interrupted by the impatient crowd, what forces him to stop playing just before Black Mountain Side. An explosive Kashmir pulverizes the crowd with a brutal impact, followed by the only weaker moment of the show in the form of the shabby Stairway To Heaven. To everyone's surprise, they play three encores in a row, starting with a ferocious Rock And Roll, after which Plant introduces Phil Carson from Atlantic Records, who joins the band on bass for an old Beatles' cover, Money (That's What I Want). The show is closed with a fabulous, long Whole Lotta Love, where Jimmy plays with vigorous energy, and where an impromptu rendition of Elvis Presley's Frankfurt Special is included. A must-have!

A merely average show with mistakes and apathy mixed with just a few moments of inspiration. Bonham and Jones chug along at high speed as Page tears through a blistering guitar solo near the end of The Train Kept A Rollin'. Plant continues to have trouble reaching some of the higher notes during Nobody's Fault But Mine. Jimmy is in a sticky-fingered syndrome during the solos, what's listenable during Black Dog. In The Evening and two other tracks from the new studio album, Hot Dog and All My Love are all just average. Especially the latter ones are performed without much involvement from the whole band. Page continues his erratic mood with Trampled Underfoot, and Since I've Been Loving You is a disappointment, as he stumbles through a lackluster guitar licks. He also sounds tired during Achilles Last Stand, while Bonzo forgoing any complex fills for simple snare and bass drum patterns in the latter half of the song. White Summer finds Jimmy wandering aimlessly through an uninspired series of showcases. The things improve a bit with Kashmir, but yet again you can feel lack of intensity, even Bonham does not play with as much impetus here as he usually does. Stairway To Heaven sounds tentative, and two encores featuring usually fast Rock And Roll and a somewhat erratic Whole Lotta Love that includes a funky jam during the Theremin freak-out and the only known brief rendition of Elvis Presley's (Marie's The Name) His Latest Flame are the set closers.

A tad better gig than the night before, although still sluggish and boring in some places. The opening numbers are good and energetic, including usually brutal The Train Kept A Rollin'. However, Page still plays in a sticky-fingers syndrome, as listenable during Nobody's Fault But Mine and Black Dog. The climate changes within a really expressive version of In The Evening, where Jimmy blazes through the guitar solos with incredible fluency. The Rain Song is subtle and lightful, one of the better from the entire tour. Surprisingly, Hot Dog and All My Love are performed with a fair amount of involvement this time, although the latter is still somewhat flat sounding at times. A heavy Trampled Underfoot features another spontaneously sharped solo from Page, and Since I've Been Loving You is just average, nothing close to the versions from a few days before. The band begins to lose momentum during Achilles Last Stand, and - as expected - Jimmy gets stuck in the strings at times during a lackluster White Summer and the following medley. Kashmir is again just so-so, but still better than the night before. Robert gives a deliberate lounge act reading during Stairway To Heaven, showing his total apathy for this song. On the other hand, Page plays one of the better solos there. They close the show with two lightning-fast encores, reversing final performance of Communication Breakdown and a loose Rock And Roll, making an interesting end to this event.

A rather good show, although Jimmy is sloppy in some parts. The Train Kept A Rollin’ and Nobody’s Fault But Mine explode on stage, just like how the band love to start their concerts. Jimmy performs erratically through an expressive guitar solo in a thunderous Black Dog. The In Through The Outdoor material finds all four members in a good spirits, the melodic In The Evening is powerful, and the playing is really vibey. Jones manages to play All My Love in the proper tempo in the middle, this section always gave him a problem during this tour. Trampled Underfoot is a great rendition, with Page playing a blistering guitar solo. The beautiful Since I've Been Loving You is again played with such emotions and intimacy, but Achilles Last Stand is quite tentative. Jimmy sounds a bit unsure of himself during the epic performance, and the band have to wait for him to play the proper transitions here and there. He also begins to lose momentum during Kashmir, as his playing becomes dull and uninspired toward the end. On the other hand, his solo in Stairway To Heaven is quite consistent, but this concert is worth attention primarily because of the encores. While Rock And Roll is explosive as usual, with Plant pushing his voice to the limit, a somewhat messy and extended Whole Lotta Love is a real surprise, preceded by Moby Dick-alike intro. Simon Kirke of Bad Company joins the stage on a second drum kit, and Page blazes through a wild guitar acrobatics during a frantic funky jam and boogie sections.

This is the last public Led Zeppelin performance in the original line-up. The show alternates between brilliance and boredom, especially from Page. A blistering The Train Kept A Rollin' and there is a pause afterwards instead of a clean segue into Nobody's Fault But Mine. This is followed by a thunderous Black Dog, where the band hammers through each verse, and where Bonahm pounds on his drums with an incredible energy. Jimmy's fingers are a bit sticky during The Rain Song, while Jones again performs his portions in All My Love in the right tempo. Page stumbles through a dense, expressionistic solo during a great and extended Trampled Underfoot. The inspiration seems to drop significantly with Since I've Been Loving You that sounds as it has been played without much dedication. Achilles Last Stand has been dropped from the setlist due to tiredness, leaving Page to stall the crowd while his guitar is being tuned before an endless and very sloppy White Summer. His fingers become hopelessly entangled in the strings throughout the whole piece, making this showcase a mess. Kashmir is typically monumental and features Plant's voice in a great shape. Stairway To Heaven is the longest version ever, with Jimmy in particular attempting never before heard riffs. However, his solo sounds weak and lacks coherency, unfortunately. The encores mark the return to the form. The explosive Rock And Roll is kept in a hurricane speed, and the seventeen-minute long Whole Lotta Love is one of a kind experimental version. The Theremin freak-out has been transformed into an extended free-form jam instead of a casual boogie section. Bonzo and Jonesy rides through a frantic rhythm as Page creates a symphony of dissonant howls, before as they all returns to the familiar riff.
