Cannot be sure if master reel really exists. I have been told, he was between 15 and 20 in the late 70s so he would have been under ten in 1969. Bob is still around and probably didn't record the show, just has the masters(?).

master reel>1st gen. It sounds a bit crispier than the 2nd gen but the sound is also tinyer - the 2nd gen is fuller with more bass.

Cannot be sure if master reel really exists. This is the same taper as Boston May 27th, 1969.

Available as 1st gen with lots of noise reduction with more tape hiss than the 2nd gen with 30 seconds of tape at the beginning (clocks at 46:46), as a cleaner 1st gen without noise reduction wth less tape hiss and missing 30 seconds (clocks at 47:01), and as a very clean master reel>1st gen with 30 seconds (clocks at 47:55). Both were done in early 1970s.

2nd gen cassette (has some noise reduction here and 30 seconds of tape at the beginning)

Available as 1st gen master reel>2nd gen cassette with the vocals still distant but sounds more stereo than other 2nd gen (the only problem with this one is the hiss, clocks at 90:34) and 1st gen>2nd gen which is a a direct transfer of the tapes (the sound on this is much brighter than the 3rd gen, clocks at 91:47). Same taper as Newport July 6th, 1969 1st source.

3rd gen>SBL128, contains a bit of tape hiss

Color amateur video without actual sound. Runs fast. Taped by Dennis DiMatteo (shot with a silent 1951 Revere camera from the second or third row on the right side of the stage, also includding very short snippet of Iron Butterfly performance).

1st set. Cannot be sure if master really exists. It has the 50 seconds of tape at the beginning and contains more tape hiss, speed is correct or maybe a bit slow and there is slight sound increase at the end of I Can't Quit You Baby as it was taken from different tape.

soundboard reel master>pre-FM broadcast master. First of all, this show was not broadcast live as it was happening. It was broadcast some days after the original show taking place, and as of yet, the date of the original broadcast is unknown. The Swedish radio station secured the rights to broadcast only a part of the show from Peter Grant, who thus gave them what we have today; copied from Jimmy's master reel. From there the Pre-Broadcast reel resided in Swedish radio archives until relatively recently. Around 1992 it was transferred to DAT.

The sender's wife has an uncle. He is a retired sound engineer and long time collector since the 1960s, inherited original reel safety copies of the Texas Pop Festival masters from one of the engineers who worked at the festival. Those reels are 7.5ips halftrack reel copies of the original master reels. Those were transfered on a Revox A77 Reel to DAT using a Tascam DA45. The sender personally transfered the DAT copies to CD-R. There are 13 CDs of music and a 14th CD containing artwork for Volumes 1 to 13, plus festival photos, festival program scans and notation.

Color amateur footage without actual sound shot in order to be used in a documentary about the festival. All versions circulating have either a stamp in the center of the picture either a timecode.

Cannot be sure if master really exists but almost positive that is no available. It has slight less hiss. The lineage is in question, but is definitely a low generation. Other circulating copies and bootleg releases show significant and very clever tinkering. Some examples are the removal of an audience member commenting Good Times Bad Times during its use as a lead-in, and a fake ending added to How Many More Times.

Shure mic>Ampex C-60 master cassette. Taped by Karl Ryan. There has been questions of whether all circulating copies come from a 2nd gen tape or not. After some conversations with die hard collectors this source was verified that all copies circulating were anywhere from 4th to 8th gen analog copies of the actual 2nd gen cassette.
