BINDER
What you call The Book Of Magic is also known as Binder 80 or Europe Binder and was part of the highlights of the former Tarantura label. In 1996, the old original label released the original binder. It is coloured dark brown and have a leather structure (I would say similar to reptiles). That binder already includes the three double CD sets of Bremen (June 23th, 1980), Hannover (June 24th, 1980) and Zurich (June 29th, 1980) which were also sold separately without the binder. Another important detail is that the back of the binder reads 'Strictly Limited Edition 300 Copies'. No index inserts (red Tour Over Europe poster and Jimmy Page photo) were originally included.
After the release of the binder more 1980 concerts were released step by step by the old Tarantura label: Brussels (June 20th, 1980), Munich (July 05th, 1980), Vienna (June 26th, 1980), Dortmund (June 17th, 1980), Rotterdam (June 21st, 1980) and Berlin (July 7th, 1980) - the red one not Heineken which is from 1995. The red Berlin double CD was one of the very last releases by the old original Tarantura label. After that the label ceased to exist in 1997 and the original binder was never completed by Tarantura.
Shortly after the retirement of Tarantura a new label was found: Flagge. Flagge released the five remaining 1980 concerts which were not produced by Tarantura and they even copied Tarantura's artwork style and used leftovers of the Tarantura disc inner sleeves. Cologne (June 18th, 1980), Nuremburg (June 27th, 1980) together with Frankfurt (June 30th, 1980) as "Sudden Attack!", Mannheim (July 2nd, 1980) and Mannheim (July 3rd, 1980). Since then the hardcore collector was able to complete his 1980 Tour binder with the Flagge titles.
In late 1999/early 2000 a new Tarantura label (T2K aka Tarantura2000) hit the market. In 2003, Mannheim (July 3rd, 1980) was released by Tarantura2000 and now we come to some more interesting points: the new Mannheim double CD set was limited to 200 copies. 150 copies were sold seperately without any binder but could be ordered together with two index inserts for the original Tarantura binder. One insert shows the Tour Over Europe poster and the other one is a Jimmy Page insert. The label also re-released the binders in a very limited run of 50 copies. All of them include the two index inserts and the new Mannheim CD. The new binders were either available as black felt (!) or red plastic (and even some very few black plastic are in existence, too!) with a more subtle leather structure than the original binder. All re-released binders say on back "Strictly Limited Edition 050 Copies". The collector could replace the old Flagge Mannheim II with new Tarantura2000 edition or was able to start a second series with the new limited 50 binders. Until now Tarantura2000 also released new versions of: Cologne (Version 2006), Brussels (audience Version 2008), Bremen (Version 2007) and Hannover (Version 2004).

The very first Led Zeppelin Tarantura release, way back in 1993, comes in a black long box with a picture of a Zeppelin on it. The box opens to reveal two slimline jewel cases covering the opening show from Tokyo on 23 September 1971. Also enclosed is a postcard replica of the tour programme. The first pressing was of 300 copies. Following this a further 500 copies were pressed. Subsequently a final run of 1000 copies were pressed. The original pressing has a white paper obi, the second has a smaller paper obi and the embossed lettering is in a bolder colour. Finally the third pressing did not have an obi, and the artwork was not quite as sharp. Includes sticker. Very rare.

This title has become a much sought after one, in view of the superb packaging and sound, and now commands a very high price in the collectors market. This release must again be regarded as a work of art by the Tarantura label. It is another example of what can be done by people who really take a great deal of trouble to not only get the best sounding versions of a concert, but to also take a great deal of trouble, effort and expense to package the release in the highest possible quality.
