Comments: The first show of the 1980 Tour and a very dynamic and good one. Jimmy, as always on this tour, flashes between brilliance (Since I've Been Loving You, Stairway To Heaven) and mistakes (White Summer/Black Mountain Side). The encores are great, especially Heartbreaker inside of Whole Lotta Love ... a treat!

WARNING! Some sources reported that another audience tape of this show exist and may still be in the hands of a tape hoarder. Possibly whole show was recorded but a very big care must be taken with these reports.

Comments: Another early 1980 show that is strong and fast paced. The opening string of numbers is powerful and the band seems ready to play from the outset. Jimmy reaches for boredom in White Summer and the whole of Since I've Been Loving You is a joke for Jimmy ... he is constantly out of tune and out of time throughout the whole piece! Achilles Last Stand is excellent and the minimalistic encores finish off this show.

Comments: A really good show, although Jimmy destroys the sections of Achilles Last Stand. He delivers some great solos on Stairway To Heaven and Since I've Been Loving You. The rest of the band seems in fine shape, although Robert's lack of enthusiasm for Stairway is blatantly apparent.

Comments: A truly excellent and fiery show in front of a dull and restrained crowd. The band is really playing well, and even Jimmy is on near top form, playing with guts, cleanly and constructing exciting solos and his usual great guitar playing. Trampled Underfoot is a definite highlight, and the encore of Heartbreaker is blistering.

WARNING! Some sources reported that another audience tape of this show exist and may still be in the hands of a tape hoarder. Possibly whole show was recorded but a very big care must be taken with these reports.

Bootleg CD Reference(s) audience & soundboard mixes: Led Zeppelin's Live Omega #6 Messehalle Hannover (Winston Remasters CD-R) & Tour Over Hannover (Wendy Records)

Comments: The concert is quite low key and relaxed. Plant mocks the audience for their passivity (even saying, off-mike, "Hannover, fucking horrible place!" before In The Evening). He even tries to get Bonham to play Moby Dick to liven the audience ("No way, mate. No way." Bonzo says to Plant). Highlights include All My Love with Jones playing the keyboard solo in at the correct tempo (he often plays it too fast on this tour). They rhythm section leaves Page unaccompanied at one point during the Trampled Underfoot solo sounding very interesting. Since I've Been Loving You is one of the best versions from this tour.

WARNING! Some sources reported that another audience tape of this show exist and may still be in the hands of a tape hoarder. Possibly whole show was recorded but a very big care must be taken with these reports.

JUNE 26 - STADTHALLE, VIENNA, AUSTRIA (concert truncated due to rowdy audience and Page was hit in the face with a firecracker) (THURSDAY 7:30pm) (Concert rescheduled from May 22nd, 1980.)

Recording Includes: The Train Kept A Rollin', Nobody's Fault But Mine, Out On The Tiles Intro >> Black Dog, In The Evening, The Rain Song, Hot Dog, All My Love, Trampled Underfoot, Since I've Been Loving You, Achilles Last Stand, White Summer (stopped), Stage Announcements, Kashmir, Stairway To Heaven, Rock And Roll, Whole Lotta Love (<< Boogie Chillun..).
Source: Complete good to very good audience recording. Almost 124 minutes.
Details: There is very little nearby audience noise. The band comes through clear and balanced and there is very little tape hiss.

Bootleg LP Reference(s) audience: All Good Things Go By Trees: Inedits Volume 3 (Wein)

Bootleg CD Reference(s) audience: Deutchland Uber Alles (The Diagrams Of Led Zeppelin), Goodnight Vienna (Electric Magic), Spare Parts 1980 (POT), & Vienna (Tarantura)

Comments: Quite a powerful and energetic show. Achilles Last Stand is not present on this concert and appears not to have been performed. Plant is in very good voice at this show. His vocal adornments during Kashmir and Stairway To Heaven resemble those from the 1977 tour. The firecracker incident during White Summer cuts that song down to two and half minutes. Page did take a wrong turn during White Summer and was attempting to find his way back when the firecracker struck. The announcer asks the audience to bring to the stage the perpetrator so they can have a word with him. After the announcement, the band returns with a vengeance. Here is the whole announcement translated from its original language: "Achtung! Jimmy asks that you please refrain from throwing firecrackers as it is ruining his heroin buzz ... the only pyro that is allowed is what the band has on stage. Next kraut caught throwing an M80 and Jimmy will turn you into a newt and turn your girl into a slave of the devil. Now sit back and enjoy his 30 minute butchering of White Summer." Page does lose his grip during Rock And Roll's guitar solo, but he delivers an inspired and lengthy solo during Stairway To Heaven. After a light-hearted guitar introduction, the band launches into the most inextricable version of Whole Lotta Love ever. Boogie Woogie holds the line.

WARNING! Some sources reported that another tape of this show exist and may still be in the hands of a tape hoarder. Possibly whole show was recorded but a very big care must be taken with these reports.

Comments: This is the complete show ... Bonham collapsed after Black Dog because he ate too many bananas and had a severe stomachache! Too bad as they are playing with guts and quite a bit more energy than on some of the other shows on the tour.

WARNING! Some sources reported that audience tape with complete cancellation announcement of this show exist and may still be in the hands of a tape hoarder. Possibly whole show was recorded but a very big care must be taken with these reports.

Comments: One of the best shows from the 1980 tour, this show has a great version of Heartbreaker and The Train Kept a Rollin'. Jimmy flashes between inspired playing and getting his fingers caught in the strings. The rest of the group play well and seem to be having fun, although they totally botch Kashmir. That caused Plant to commented it: "If anybody's bootlegging that, you'll have to scratch that number cause wasn't completely correct - somehow we got through it." Robert's voice is in great shape.

Comments: This show must be tied with the night before for the best 1980 show ever! What an excellent show. One of the few 1980 shows that has no moments of apathy or sluggishness. Fresh ideas and old ones are mixed and the result is one of the best concerts ever in Led Zeppelin's career. Achilles Last Stand is excellent and one of the strongest versions ever and the encores are simply amazing. Robert's voice is great ... he hits all the high notes. Jimmy tried calm down the audience while his playing in White Summer 'cause he didn't hear himself! What makes this recording more interesting is presentation of Phil Carson, who joined the band for Money. He was introduced as "the man who used to play bass for Dusty Springfield".

WARNING! Some sources reported that two more audience tapes from this show are exist and may currently be in the hands of a tape hoarders but a very big care must be taken with these reports.

Comments: A merely average 1980 gig. Well played and well sung but not nearly as hot as the gigs in Zurich and Frankfurt days before. Jimmy is somewhat sloppy although he does manage some great solos in Since I've Been Loving You and Achilles Last Stand. Bonham sounds quite bored in Achilles, however. Robert sounds like he is singing Stairway To Heaven under extreme duress ... he makes no effort to hide the fact that he's sick of it! Overall a decent show with mistakes and apathy mixed heavily with the moments of inspiration.

WARNING! Some sources reported that two more audience tapes of this show are exist and may still be in the hands of a tape hoarder. Possibly whole show was recorded but a very big care must be taken with these reports.

Comments: A better show than the night before, although still sluggish in some places. The opening numbers are good, including an extended The Train Kept A Rollin'. Overall, the show is very good although as a whole not quite as good as previous ones on the tour. Still, they are in high sprits and play very well, including a great middle string of numbers. The only weak link is Stairway To Heaven, with Robert giving it a deliberate lounge act reading, showing the band's apathy for it.

Comments: A very uneven, although very good show. Robert seems to be in good spirits with his crowd rapport, except fore his completely dead and emotionless delivery of Stairway To Heaven. The band is playing well, although Jimmy, as usual on this tour, varies between brilliance and apathy. After Kashmir Plant announces: "John Bonham was on drums, John Bonham ... John Henry Bonham ... Moby Dick, Dick, Dick?" It would seem Plant is still hell bent on getting Bonzo to play Moby Dick during this tour! The encores are the hottest part of the show!

Comments: The last show of the tour and the last Led Zeppelin show ever! This show alternates between brilliance and boredom, especially from Jimmy. But the good moments are very good. Since I've Been Loving You is a great version and there is a lot of experimentation with a very long and great version of Trampled Underfoot and a long version of Stairway To Heaven. Whole Lotta Love is a long jam that sounds great. Amazing bass from Jones as Jimmy spits out guitar flourishes and Robert and Bonzo cook behind this. One of the two shows from the 1980 Tour that didn't have Achilles Last Stand. But as the last ever show there is historical significance here.

WARNING! Some sources reported that another audience tape of this show exist and may still be in the hands of a tape hoarder. Possibly whole show was recorded but a very big care must be taken with these reports.
